It’s easier to breath in a natural building. Conventional materials leave toxins in the air that can aggravate respiratory problems. Clay, straw, and wood are the primary materials used in our natural building - making indoor air much cleaner.
Wood floors cover radiant heating pipes in sub-floor
Compost piles generate massive amounts of heat that can be used to heat water for radiant floors and walls; it also produces methane, which can be used as cooking gas and fuel electricity.
Pex pipes are placed in the sub-floor for radiant heating. Hot water heated by compost pile outside runs inside through sub-floor pex pipes. Clay floor finish covers pipes for a smooth leather-like finish.
Walls can radiate warmth by running pex pipes along them and running hot water through the pipes. The plaster that covers the straw and pipes looks like a conventional wall finish.
Straw bales provide r-30 insulation and walls can also be heated with pex pipes running hot water to radiate heat in a cold room
Shower benches and tadelakt plaster are beautiful and functional for people with various physical capabilities
Tadelakt is a labor intensive natural clay plaster used instead of tiles in wet areas like showers.

Natural building materials like straw, clay and wood are far more affordable than concrete, tile and other conventional building materials. Natural materials are also better for indoor air quality. A sturdy, modest home can be built affordably for the average American income.
